About Me.
I am Shane Denizard, but you probably read that already. If you just want to read my resume, click here (separate window, .pdf file). As I stated on my home page, I am Bradenton Florida's newest CIW Certified Web Developer / Designer. I have studied web design and development for the past 2 years. In June, I graduate from the Web Design program at Manatee Technical Institute taught by Mrs. Vera Bourenina, my brilliant mentor. I have completed 7 full projects (including this one) and have taken part in several others. I interned at Webtivity Designs for 3 months and I was privileged to see some excellent work. I worked for SpiderWeb Networking, first as a network tech then as a web designer. The company went under but I still get calls from some of the previous clients. I have been told to make mention of my membership in Mensa. Finally, I am also Net+ Certified through Comp TIA which helps to make me a well-rounded developer.
Read about my victory at SkillsUSA FL State here. The SkillsUSA Web Design competition is like an Iron Chef Competition where contestants have a time limit to complete as much of a site as possible given a theme, some content and some graphics. Pretty Exciting!
I have been involved in martial arts for about 10 years, on and off. I have studied under Sensei (and Dr.) Jose Andrade in Orlando at Aikido Tenshinkai. Andrade-sensei teaches Honbu style Aikido, which is considered traditional. I enjoyed my time there because the teacher embodies the spirituality that I expect from martial arts.
I was learning Tae Kwon Do at Ancient
Ways Martial Arts Academy here in Bradenton before my knee gave out on
me. Master Boon Brown exhibits the Zen spirit that I look for in a teacher.
I am originally from New York where I have studied
Nihon Goshin Aikido and Goshinryu Karate, but the styles were
a bit too aggressive for my taste. And the teachers, though knowledgeable
and talented, lacked the Zen attitude.
I tore my knee sparring but now it is all healed up. I think I might give martial arts another go. Physical activity is important for the body and the mind.
Mensa is an organization that tests potential members on their intelligence. Their knowledge of math, vocabulary and logical thinking come into play. I was humbled when I was offered membership. I never thought I would make the cut.
